Opportunities
Learn Karate with Christians devoted to serving GOD!
WHO CAN LEARN?
Anyone age 8 and up is welcome to join our class!
CLASS TIMES & LOCATION
Our class meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30–6:00 pm in the East Campus Life Center (Gym).
OUR KARATE STYLE
Wadō-ryū (和道流) is one of the four major karate styles and was founded by Hironori Ōtsuka (1892–1982).[1] The style itself places emphasis on not only striking — but tai sabaki — joint locks and throws. It has its origins within Tomari-te karate, but was also influenced by Shito-Ryu and Shotokan, and was also influenced by Ju-jitsu.[2]
North Boulevard's Karate with Christ is a "traditional" non-traditional Karate class, and we allow some discussion during class time to allow mentoring to happen. We strive for three things:
God is the reason and the focus of our time together
We're teaching how to go home to our family if trouble arises
We are a Black Belt School!
COST
There is no cost for the class. But participants will need to pay for their uniform, federation fee, belt exams, and equipment. Contact our class instructor, Phillip Vandiver, for more details about how to join!
